Place value โ€“ integers and decimals.
Complete the sentences to describe the numbers.

    ๐Ÿ™‚ = Correct, โ˜น๏ธ = Incorrect

    ๐Ÿ“Œ Rules

โ€ข Understand the position of the decimal point: Digits to the left of the decimal point represent whole numbers (ones, tens, hundreds, thousands), while digits to the right represent fractional parts (tenths, hundredths, thousandths).

โ€ข Decompose combined numbers: Break numbers down by looking at the value of each digit. For example, in 34.258, the 3 is worth 30 (3 tens), the 4 is worth 4 (4 ones), the 2 is worth 0.2 (2 tenths), the 5 is worth 0.05 (5 hundredths), and the 8 is worth 0.008 (8 thousandths).

    ๐Ÿ’ก Tips

โ€ข Multiply or divide by 10, 100, or 1000 to shift places: Moving a digit one column to the left makes it 10 times larger; moving it one column to the right makes it 10 times smaller (1/10 of its value).

โ€ข Quick typing on our platform: Typing your answer is designed to be super quick and simple! Just type plain digits or decimals like 30 or 0.05 without adding any spaces, words, or extra punctuation.

    โš ๏ธ Warnings

โ€ข Distinguish whole numbers from fractional parts: Be careful with similar-sounding place value names! Tens are worth 10, but tenths are worth 0.1; hundreds are worth 100, but hundredths are worth 0.01.

โ€ข Keep placeholder zeros in decimal parts: When writing the value of a single digit in a decimal, keep all zeros up to the decimal point (e.g. the value of 6 in 5.064 is 0.06, not 0.6).
