    Ratio and fractions.
Whether you’re in a bakery, factory, or office, understanding ratios and fractions is key. Your task is to work through each situation and show your working like a true problem solver!
Write all ratios and fractions in their simplest form.

    πŸ™‚ = Correct, ☹️ = Incorrect

    πŸ“Œ Rules

β€’ Converting a ratio to a fraction: To find what fraction of the whole a part represents, add the parts of the ratio together to get the total denominator. For example, if the ratio of flour to sugar is 3:1, the total number of parts is 3 + 1 = 4. Flour is 3/4 of the mix and sugar is 1/4.

β€’ Converting a fraction to a ratio: If 2/5 of the cakes in a bakery are chocolate and the rest are vanilla, the remaining fraction is 3/5 (since 5/5 – 2/5 = 3/5). The ratio of chocolate to vanilla cakes is 2:3.

    πŸ’‘ Tips

β€’ Always simplify to lowest terms: Divide both numbers in a ratio by their highest common factor, or divide the top and bottom of a fraction by the same number. For example, a ratio of 4:6 simplifies to 2:3, and a fraction of 4/10 simplifies to 2/5.

β€’ Quick typing on our platform: Typing your answer is designed to be super quick and simple! Use plain digits with a colon for ratios (like 2:3) or a forward slash for fractions (like 2/5) without adding any spaces or words.

    ⚠️ Warnings

β€’ Do not use the second part of a ratio as the denominator: If the ratio of boys to girls is 2:3, the fraction of boys is 2/5 (out of the total 5 children), not 2/3!

β€’ Pay attention to what the question asks for: Check whether the answer requires a ratio (using :) or a fraction (using /) and check the exact order of the items mentioned.
