Write the fractions represented by the coloured parts of the pictures.
To write a fraction on a keyboard, type the numerator, followed by the forward slash, and then the denominator. For example, to write one-half, you would type: 1/2. To write three quarters, you would type 3/4.

    πŸ™‚ = Correct, ☹️ = Incorrect

    πŸ“Œ Rules

β€’ A fraction shows a part of a whole. The bottom number is the denominator, which tells you the total number of equal parts in the whole picture. For example, if a chocolate bar is split into 4 equal blocks, your denominator is 4.

β€’ The top number is the numerator, which tells you how many of those equal parts are coloured in. If 3 out of the 4 chocolate blocks are shaded blue, your numerator is 3, making the fraction 3/4.

    πŸ’‘ Tips

β€’ Always count the total number of equal pieces first to find your bottom number. Going back to our chocolate bar, count all 4 pieces (both shaded and unshaded) before doing anything else.

β€’ When typing your answer, type the top number, then a forward slash /, and then the bottom number. Our platform keeps typing quick and simple, so there is no need to add any spaces or commas anywhere in your answer.

    ⚠️ Warnings

β€’ Do not forget to count the coloured parts as part of the total count. If a shape has 3 blue parts and 1 white part, the total number of parts is 4, not 1. Writing 3/1 instead of 3/4 is incorrect!

β€’ Be careful not to swap the numbers around. Putting the coloured parts on the bottom would turn 3/4 into 4/3, which means something completely different.
