    Form algebraic expressions.
    Select the correct algebraic expression.

    🙂 = Correct, ☹️ = Incorrect

    📌 Rules

    • Use letters for unknown values: In algebra, letters represent unknown numbers or variables (e.g. n, x, y). An expression connects these letters and numbers using mathematical operations.

    • Algebraic notation conventions: Multiplication is written without a sign (e.g. 4 × n is written as 4n). Division is written as a fraction (e.g. n ÷ 2 is written as n/2).

    💡 Tips

    • Translate words into operations carefully:“5 more than n“ becomes n + 5, “3 less than x“ becomes x – 3, and “double y“ becomes 2y.

    • Quick typing on our platform: Selecting or typing your answer is designed to be super quick and simple! Just enter the exact algebraic term like 4n + 3 or x – 5 without adding any spaces or equals signs.

    ⚠️ Warnings

    • Watch the order in subtraction and division: Order matters! “4 less than n“ is n – 4, not 4 – n. Similarly, “x divided by 3″ is x/3, not 3/x.

    • Do not include an equals sign: An algebraic expression does not have an equals sign (e.g. 2n + 5). Adding an equals sign makes it an equation (e.g. 2n + 5 = 11).
