    Divide fractions by integers.
When possible, simplify results or convert fractions into mixed numbers or integers.

    🙂 = Correct, ☚ī¸ = Incorrect

    📌 Rules

â€ĸ Multiply the denominator by the whole number: To divide a fraction by an integer, multiply the denominator (bottom number) by the integer and keep the numerator (top number) the same. Imagine sharing 1/2 of a chocolate bar equally between 3 children: multiply the bottom number by 3 (2 × 3 = 6) to get 1/6 for each child.

â€ĸ Divide the numerator if it divides exactly: If the top number can be divided equally by the integer, you can divide the numerator directly. For example, dividing 4/5 by 2 gives 2/5 because 4 Ãˇ 2 = 2.

    💡 Tips

â€ĸ Remember Keep-Change-Flip: Turn the whole number into a fraction (for example, 3 becomes 3/1), then keep the first fraction (1/2), change Ãˇ to ×, and flip 3/1 to 1/3 to solve 1/2 × 1/3 = 1/6.

â€ĸ Quick typing on our platform: Typing your answer is designed to be super quick and simple! Just use plain digits and a forward slash like 1/6 without adding any spaces or commas.

    âš ī¸ Warnings

â€ĸ Do not divide the denominator: When solving 1/2 Ãˇ 3, doing 2 Ãˇ 3 on the bottom is incorrect! Dividing a fraction means making smaller pieces, so the bottom number must grow larger (2 × 3 = 6).

â€ĸ Dividing makes the fraction smaller: Each child gets a smaller slice when sharing. For example, 1/6 is smaller than the original 1/2 slice you started with.
