Divide large numbers easily by breaking the divisor down into its factor pair.
    Don’t include any symbols.

    🙂 = Correct, ☹️ = Incorrect

    📌 Rules

    • To divide by a tricky two-digit number, break that number into a factor pair (two numbers that multiply to make it). For example, to divide 240 by 12, break 12 into 3 × 4, then divide 240 by 3 to get 80, and divide 80 by 4 to get 20!

    • You must divide by BOTH factor numbers one after the other. It does not matter which factor you use first, as long as you complete both steps to get the right final answer.

    💡 Tips

    • Choose the factor pair that makes division easiest for you. For dividing by 12, using 3 × 4 or 2 × 6 both work, so pick the numbers you feel most confident dividing by!

    • When typing your final answers on our platform, keep typing quick and simple by using plain digits only (for example, write 10000, not 10,000 or 10 000). The answer box handles the rest automatically!

    ⚠️ Warnings

    • Do not add the factors together! To divide by 12, use factors like 3 × 4 (because 3 × 4 = 12), not 6 + 6 ☹️.

    • Do not forget to divide your second step by the second factor. In our 240 ÷ 12 example, stopping at 240 ÷ 3 = 80 is only halfway there ☹️. You must divide 80 by 4 to reach 20 🙂.
